Melinda Manore, PhD, RD, FACSM

Melinda Manore, PhD, RD, FACSMMelinda M. Manore is Professor of Nutrition in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU) and past Chair of Nutrition and Food Management at OSU, before a merger with Exercise and Sport Science.
Her research is in the area of nutrition and exercise and is the author of over 120 scientific publications, book chapters, and review and outreach articles. She has authored four books with Dr. Janice Thompson: Nutrition: An Applied Approach (2005) and Nutrition for Life (2007) and The Science of Nutrition (2008), and Sport Nutrition for Health and Performance (2000). She has also co-authored two books as part of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee on Military Nutrition Research (2004, 2006). She is a number of editorial boards, including of ACSM’s Health and Fitness Journal, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, Journal of Physical Activity and Health, and the Journal of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). She is an author on the ACSM, ADA and Dietitians of Canada Position Paper Nutrition and Athletic Performance (2000) and ACSM’s Female Athlete Triad Position Paper (2007). She is active in ACSM, where she is a Fellow and a member of the Board of Trustees and the ADA, where she has chaired and served on numerous committees. She is also a member of the American Society of Nutrition and the North American Society for the Study of Obesity. Dr. Manore received her BA from Seattle Pacific University, her MS from the University of Oregon and her PhD in Nutritional Sciences with minors in health and exercise science from OSU and is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Certified Specialist in Sport Dietetics (CSSD) through ADA.
