In January, Sarah Witkowski, PhD, FACSM, chair and associate professor of exercise & sport studies at Smith College, will share her insights on female-specific conditions, such as menopause, that increase risk for cardiovascular disease and the role that physical activity and fitness play to alter the female risk trajectory. ACSM’s Healthy Youth Sports Podcast Kicks off 2025 Episodes
On Jan. 15, the newest recording of ACSM’s hit podcast series will release the episode “Targeting Excellence: Archery in the Schools” with Tommy Floyd, Ed.D., president at the National Archery in the Schools Program, Inc. Join Eric Utterback, ACSM director for strategic programs, as he discusses youth and adolescent sports, injury prevention, physical activity and health with some of the world’s leading subject matter experts. New Healthy People 2030 Leading Health Indicators Infographics Available
Healthy People Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) reflect major causes of death and disease in the United States, such as diabetes, cancer and obesity, as well as social determinants of health like employment, environmental health, education and food insecurity. The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has created a set of infographics to complement these LHIs that provides engaging visualizations of the overall data and shows comparisons of disparity data for selected population groups. Professionals working to improve health can use these visualizations to understand and interpret the data and add them to presentations, reports, grant applications or health information materials.
