Call to Action: Contribute to the Development of the Third Edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
Every 10 years, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) updates the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, providing evidence-based recommendations for staying healthy through physical activity. This multiyear process involves identifying key topics, appointing an expert Advisory Committee, and conducting systematic literature reviews to inform the Guidelines. Planning for the third edition, set for release in 2028, is already underway. In May 2024, HHS, alongside the NIH and CDC, hosted a listening session with experts, including international collaborators from the WHO and Canada, to evaluate emerging topics, identify research gaps, and engage the physical activity research community in shaping the next edition.
