Online Education Frequently Asked Questions

If you do not have an existing account with ACSM, you’ll need to create one. Here's how:

• Click the blue “LOG IN” button in the upper right corner. 
• Choose "CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT” at the bottom of the page. 
• Complete the required fields and “SAVE”.

Following these steps will create a non-member account for you in the ACSM database.  Once you’ve created an account, you will be signed into the system.

Follow these steps to purchase continuing education courses on the new platform:

• Go to www.acsm.org.   

• Click on “LOGIN.” 

• Hover over the tab “Education & Resources" and click on “Continuing Education” in the drop down menu.

This page features new and popular courses that are available. If you want to search the full course catalog, click on “CEC Courses” on the left side of the page. 
  

Search for Specific Courses

If you would like to search for a specific course, please enter keywords into the search option at the top of the course catalog page.

Purchase a Course

Once you select what course(s) you would like to purchase, please add the course(s) to your cart then “PROCEED TO CHECKOUT”.

SHOPPING CART: Ensure that the items are correct and that the quantity for each is always “1.”

SHIPPING DETAILS: Shipping method should always be noted as “NOT APPLICABLE” as these are online courses. There will not be anything shipped to your address, but an address is necessary for order processing.

CART CHARGES:   If ACSM offers a promotional code for online courses, please be sure to enter that code and select “APPLY.” If your total does not reflect the appropriate discount or promotion, please email onlinelearning@acsm.org before completing your order. ACSM does not issue refunds, credits or course exchanges.

PAYMENT DETAILS: please be sure to update the payment method, enter your credit card number, the name on the credit card, update the expiration date and enter the CSC (3-digit code on the back of the credit card) and then “SUBMIT ORDER.”

Once your order is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive an email, please be sure to check your junk/spam folder. If you still cannot find the email, please contact onlinelearning@acsm.org. 

• If you are trying to access your new courses or trying to finish a course that you started, you can follow these steps:
• Go to acsm.org and click “LOG IN”
• Click on “MY PROFILE” in the upper right corner near your name
• Click on “CEC HISTORY/CERTIFICATION”
• Click on the link noted here: “TO ACCESS YOUR ONLINE CEC PURCHASES, PLEASE CLICK HERE.”

This should place you in your classroom with your listing of purchased courses.  If you do not see your classroom, please be sure to check your pop-up blockers in the upper right corner.  If you do not have a popup blocker, and you are not redirected to your classroom, please email onlinelearning@acsm.org.   

Courses purchased prior to December 31, 2023 will expire 1 year after purchase.

Courses purchased between January 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024 will expire on December 31, 2024.

Courses purchased on or after November 1, 2024 will expire one year after purchase.

Expiration reminders will be sent via email beginning four weeks prior to course expiration.

No, you do not have to pay for the course again if you do not pass your self-test. You have unlimited opportunities to retake the self-test in order to pass, unless otherwise noted in the course. Once you pass the self-test, you are not able to retake the test for a higher score as you will have earned your CECs and will be able to print off your certificate as proof of CECs earned once it is emailed to you.

All certificates are sent via email after passing the self-test. You may access copies of your certificate by going to the classroom, clicking on the transcript icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page and selecting “RESEND CERTIFICATE”  for the appropriate course. A copy of your certificate will again be emailed to you. 

Be sure to check your junk/spam mailbox. If you still do not receive your certificate, please email onlinelearning@acsm.org.  

• You can now access your total number of CECs by logging into acsm.org.
• Click on “MY PROFILE”
• Click on “CEC HISTORY / CERTIFICATIONS.” 

Next, add up all of the CECs you have earned from ACSM meetings, ACSM online continuing education courses and self-reported entries. These CECs also include those completed and earned on ACSM’s old learning management system prior to February 1, 2019.
