Renewing Multiple Credentials
If you hold more than one ACSM credential, you can renew all of them at once. You will need to pay the highest recertification fee in full, but then only $10 for each additional certification.
Random CEC Auditing Process
When renewing your certification, you are only required to pay the renewal fee and acknowledge that you’ve completed the required CEC credits and hold a current CPR certification. However, you must retain for one year documented proof that you’ve completed your CECs (e.g., certificates, letters of attendance with CEC verification, transcripts, a copy of the first page of an article showing the author, title and publication name).
ACSM audits a percentage of randomly selected recertification/renewal forms each year. If audited, you will need to provide documentation of your CECs to the ACSM National Office within 30 days. If you are unable to do so, your certification will be considered “inactive” and you will have one year to complete the recertification process by providing the documentation or by obtaining new CECs.
The CCRB Continuing Professional Education Subcommittee reviews the validity of all audit paperwork. If your paperwork is complete and you’ve earned the appropriate number of CECs, you will be notified that your credential is valid until your next recertification due date. If after you submit your documentation the subcommittee determines that some of your CECs are not applicable, you will be given an appropriate amount of time to earn additional replacement CECs.
